Coolness Captured

I need someone to colour this picture in and make it look more like me. Anyone willing to try?
I have a brilliant piece of art already!! Well done Ondine! I love this, I think it’s bloody brilliant!! I laughed out loud when I saw it! I love my new watch too! You are a star!!! How cool is this?

For me anyway. Well almost. Just needs to be blinged up a bit.

I’m really liking the way hip hop and rap artists are begining to add the biker look to what they wear. A few years back you would never have seen these guys wearing studded wristbands with skulls, and bike chains. The t-shirts are getting tighter on the guys are there are definite real biker influences going on. Rihanna looks much more of a rock chick than anything else. Busta Rhymes has just had a hit with Linkin Park. Of course it’s not new because Run DMC and Aerosmith paved the way with “Walk This Way” back in the day, but I don’t think we have seen this fusion of looks in fashion like this before. So on the strength of all that I bought a new watch, which I think just shows the 2 looks together perfectly! Biker wristband with studs, bling gold, iced out watch. Perfect. Well for me anyway.

D*Face is an English multimedia street artist who utilizes spray paint, stickers, posters, and stencils.

He grew up in London and had a childhood interest in graffiti. He credits this to Henry Chalfant’s coverage of New York subway graffiti in Spraycan Art and Subway Art, later as a teenager skateboarding and in particular Thrasher magazine’s coverage of skateboard deck graphics led his interest in stickers and the DIY mentality associated with skate and punk fanzines. He attended an illustration and design course and worked as a freelance illustrator/designer whilst honing his street work.

He tends to take traditional British imagery and destroy it. It reminds me great deal of the artwork that you used to be seen on record sleeves from the punk era. I love the name of the painting of the Queen. “Her Royal Hideousness”. His work is sometimes compared to the urban artist Banksy (see earlier post), but I think his style is very different. The only comparisons I see are that they are both British graffiti artists. Now would you have one of his paintings on your wall?

I just love this photo. It’s like someone forgot to tell LL Cool J the dress code was suits. Or maybe they did and he just doesn’t give a damn anyway. However cool 50 Cent and Ludacris try to look they don’t stand a chance with LL in the shot. Why do I like him so much? Why is he a role model? Because of his determination to be the best he can in whatever he does. Whether that’s with his music, films, his image, his clothes business, his body. This photo just sums it all up. And yet you shouldn’t be mislead because underneath all this, from what I’ve read he’s a really sweet guy too. Hard exterior, soft interior. And aren’t all the best people in the world like that?

As I was talking about beer bottles on my other blog, it made me think about beer cans, which made me think about what you could do with them. Well it seems that Paul Villinski has already come up with some amazing ideas already! What amazing artwork this is! He has cut the butterflies up out of used beer cans. Now doesn’t that make you want to do something creative too? Maybe I could make a bling chain out of used cans or something.

Now the only thing I’ve ever cut out of metal is this American eagle below. I cut it out old printing plates. Not in the same league as the beautiful butterflies though!!

See I have shown an interest in the Olympics! I just love the way Guo Yue spits on the table tennis ball!! I have the feeling she could spit on anything she wanted if the mood took her. Cute. If I were a judge I’d give the Gold medal to the Chinese for looking the most genderless.

Here are just some of my watches, and yes I wear them all. But the thing is I spend a great deal of time having to buy new batteries for them. I’ve worked out that the batteries are almost as expensive as the watch itself. Does that mean batteries are very expensive or that my watches are just dead cheap? I went to get a new battery in the one with the brown strap last week and I asked the guy if he could clean the inside of the glass for me coz it has misted up a bit. He said he could but it would cost me more to do than the watch originally cost me to buy. Bloody cheek. I’ll have you know that’s a real leather strap from Hong Kong!!
